Suppose i should give you guys a bit of an update. Fair bit has happened but not sure if i can remember all of it. Played a lot of Minecraft which was fun. Might do a more detailed post about it and include a video or some pics of my house or maybe just the mine i’ve been digging. Also been reading a lot which is good. Haven’t read that much in ages so i’m glad i’m getting back into it. Still focussing on my fantasy books though. Went to see my good friend Patti yesterday for her birthday which was awesome. We just spent the day wandering around Liverpool town centre chatting and chilling. Got some nice food at pizza hut and bought a few books from Waterstones. Then she had to head off and catch her train back down to Leamington and i went and got the coach back here and had absolutely gorgeous pork and rhubarb stir fry cooked by my bro Jay (lark86 on here i think). All in all a fun and productive few days i suppose. Also: CANNOT WAIT TO GO TO ARRAN IN 2 DAYS!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

So i’ve been playing this game minecraft a lot. If you haven’t heard about it then check it out here: www.minecraft.net It’s a really awesome game but i cant really be bothered explaining a lot about it to you atm. Check out the video on the main page up there and seriously consider buying it. There’s loads of videos on youtube too. It’s incredibly fun and addicting (it’s often referred to as Minecrack i believe).

Anyway i came up with this idea to build an arena on the multiplayer server i go on where people can do battle. Now cos the server’s mainly a construction server it’s set to peaceful so people can’t harm each other but you can still die by falling a long way or falling into lava. So some people came up with the idea of having a pit full of lava and having a single layer of easily destroyable material over the top of it. Then two people walk onto this layer of material with spades and try to dig the material out from underneath the other person so they fall into the lava and die. i was gonna build a really big floating arena with spectator stands and a massive lava-fall underneath it where other users of the server could go to do battle/watch people doing battle. It would have looked awesome (least i imagine it would) but then i came across a problem.

The problem is with multiplayer servers on minecraft as a whole. If you gets lots of people doing lots of stuff on the servers then they start to slow down and get lag. This means it takes a while for any changes other people make to the server to make it to everyone else on the server i.e. someone digs a block out but due to lag their opponent doesn’t see it straight away and walks over where it was then the server catches up and removes the block and suddenly the person is falling into the lava and losing. Not very fair and there’s no easy way to get around it other than getting a faster server (which is not up to me) I think i’m gonna try building the arena anyway just so it at least looks cool even if it cant be used. This may take a while as i plan on having a pit to the bottom of the map beneath my arena and that’s a lot of digging.

P.S. Came across another problem. My version of minecraft wont work with the version the server’s running. Guess i’ll have to wait a bit to start the arena. Instead i think it;s time for some C&C.
